This project has made me realise how much fine work we need to have to be able to collect data as reliable as possible. It requires much planning and accuracy during the data collection process. I now appreciate the statistical findings I read in articles as a backing for a certain hypothesis.
It was also interesting for me while I was keying in the data into the SPSS for further analysis. I didn't know what kind of results we would obtain, whether our hypothesis would be rejected or not.
However, when we obtained our data analysis, I felt a sense of satisfaction. I realised after a while that my satisfaction was not because of the results, but more of understanding the use of the SPSS. With the programme, we were able to analyse our data with much ease.
All in all, the whole process was an eye opener for me. I am now able to better understand and appreciate statistical analysis.

Working on this project has sparked my interest in statistical research. As we were required to conduct a study based on data that we collected, the process of collecting and analyzing the data gave me a better idea of how a research study is conducted.
I remembered discussing with my group mates about the most ideal way to take the measurements, from the set-up to the method of measuring, so as to ensure ease and efficiency in taking the measurements as well as to prevent parallax errors when reading them. However, despite standardizing the set-up and method of taking the measurements among the testers, there was still a certain degree of disparity in the readings we took. From this, I learnt what inter-rater reliability really means in statistical testing.
The process of analyzing the data using SPSS was an enriching process, as we explored the software and discovered how it can help us to analyze data efficiently. Although my group and I met with some difficulties due to being unfamiliar with using SPSS, we were glad to receive guidance from Ms Chia, who was very willing to offer her assistance.
This project allowed me to utilize the knowledge I gained in Research Methodology as well as served as a pre-requisite towards my Final Year Project.
The difficulties I faced during this project was when I was in charged of gathering the data of our subjects. It requires time and planning. I had to correspond via email and SMSes directly to the class representatives to see which day and time they will be available to conduct the necessary measurements. It took me more than 2 weeks to plan the schedule and getting their participation.
Though it can be rather taxing, but we managed the day well and it went rather smoothly.
This project will benefit me in the future, especially when it comes to tabulating data, and keying it in the SPSS. It allows me to understand how to read the different graphs, plots, and readings when I am exposed to them in the future. It taught me to see and appreciate the contents of the product and its statistic values, instead of just reading it and seeing numbers and graphs.

This Statistics project has made me appreciate the details and process of research a lot more. We had to go through many considerations and planning before we could proceed on to the subsequent stages. Gathering of samples was the most exciting. It formed the basis for our statistical analysis.
Together as a group, we enjoyed the process and managed to overcome challenges along the way. It has been a great exposure for us to experience real research put into action and finally interpreting the statistics from our results.
